Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions from next week on Heathcote Road at Engadine, around the narrow bridge that crosses the Woronora River.
Work will be carried out to help develop a design for improvements aimed at reducing congestion and improving travel times.
The work will include surveying the bridge and its approaches and inspecting road and bridge conditions.
The improvements being planned are part of the NSW Government’s $300 million Gateway to the South Pinch Point Program, which aims to improve traffic flow through Sydney’s key southern corridors.
Work will take place between Monday 27 August and Friday 23 November, weather permitting.
Day work will be carried out between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays with night work between 8pm to 5am, Sunday to Friday.
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, following the direction of signs and traffic control.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
