I encourage organisations in Heathcote to take advantage of the NSW Government’s 2018 Grandparents Day event grants, to show grandparents and seniors in Heathcote how valuable they are to the community.
A share of $200,000 is available for organisations across NSW to host events that engage seniors of all ages and abilities. The events can be held on or around Grandparents Day, to be celebrated Sunday October 28 this year.
Heathcote grandparents play an integral role in the lives of our families and are true stars in our community, devoting their time to supporting their families and friends near and far.
Last year the NSW Government doubled the amount of grant funding available, giving Heathcote organisations more opportunities to deliver quality events that reach more local residents.
Local businesses, schools and councils in Heathcote should consider starting to think about what valuable experiences they can offer grandparents and seniors to say thanks for all that they do.
Selfless seniors in our communities deserve to be recognised, celebrated, and simply thanked for all the hard work they have done, and all the things they keep doing to make our communities better.
More than 200,000 grandparents in our great State give almost 13 hours of unpaid, informal care for children each week and we don’t want this selfless service to go unnoticed.
Three funding categories are available:
· Tier 1 Grants of up to $1,000 for small-scale local events or activities targeted at community organisations and schools,
·Tier 2 Grants from $1,001 to $5,000 for local community events,
·Tier 3 Grants from $5,001 to $10,000 for large-scale community events targeted at local councils in partnership with organisations and groups.
Applications for the 2018 NSW Grandparents Day event grants program are open until midday on Friday 15 June 2018. For information on criteria, or to apply, visit www.grandparentsday.nsw.gov.au/grants
