I remind local residents that there is only one week left to have their say on the future of social housing in NSW. 16 years of Labor’s mismanagement had made social housing unfair and unsustainable.
The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government inherited a social housing system that was simply not delivering for tenants or taxpayers alike. Since 2011 we have worked hard to rebuild social housing by making the waiting list transparent so people can make better decisions, cracking down on rorters, introducing measures so more people can access housing and making smart decisions like selling Millers Point so more money can be reinvested into social housing. Despite these improvements, social housing continues to significant challenges. That is why last year, the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government released Social Housing in NSW: A discussion paper for input and comment.
We are asking the community to provide innovative ideas to help reform the system.
We want social housing to be fair, sustainable and provides opportunity and pathways for client independence. I encourage everyone to make their views heard so we can get the best outcome for those who need it most. Feedback must be received by close of business on 20 February 2015.
