Minister for Ageing, Minister John Ajaka is encouraging nominations for the 2014 NSW Seniors Week Local Achievement Awards.

“Seniors make such an important contribution to their local community,” said Mr Ajaka.

“The awards are one way in which each local community can show its appreciation for the talents, skills and generosity of this impressive group.”

Mr Evans said today that the awards showcase the enormous talent there is among seniors in our community.

“We are calling on people to nominate seniors who make a difference to their local community,” said Mr Evans.

The 2014 awards will celebrate seniors for their achievement in the following areas: Business, Intergenerational Understanding, Environment Science & Agriculture, Health and Wellbeing, Lifelong Learning and Community Service.

Mr Evans said that he is keen to celebrate the vital and important role seniors play within our community.

“I believe it is important to give thanks where it is due and these awards are Heathcote’s way of showing its appreciation for these exceptional seniors,” says Mr Evans.
