Thousands of families across the Sutherland Shire will benefit from the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government’s record investment in education, with major upgrades to Engadine High School, Jannali East Public School and Cronulla High School announced today.

Member for Heathcote Lee Evans and Education Minister Rob Stokes today visited Engadine High School to announce that the school will receive a new multipurpose hall to benefit Engadine’s outstanding students and teachers.

Mr Evans said he was thrilled that the upgrade was being delivered for the wonderful students, teachers and families of Engadine High School.

“This is great news for local families. We are ensuring that we have the top-quality school facilities our children need both now and into the future,” Mr Evans said.

“Only the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government can be trusted to deliver this important project to make sure our children have the best possible start to life.”

Mr Stokes also visited Jannali East Public School today with Member for Miranda Eleni Petinos to announce that the school will receive a new multipurpose hall to benefit the school and local community.

“We want every student to reach their full potential at school, which is why the NSW Liberals & Nationals are investing in the future of public education across NSW,” Ms Petinos said.

Rounding out the Shire school building announcements, Cronulla High School will receive a major upgrade to provide more air conditioned classrooms and upgraded core facilities.

Member for Cronulla Mark Speakman said he was thrilled to secure the important project for the local community.

“This will be an important support to students at one of the area’s largest high schools as we deliver infrastructure for our local community,” Mr Speakman said.

Mr Stokes said the major upgrades to Engadine High School, Jannali East Public School and Cronulla High School are in addition to the NSW Government’s record $6 billion school building program to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools throughout NSW.

“This is the largest investment in public school infrastructure by any State Government in Australian history and guarantees NSW will continue to have the best schools in the country,” Mr Stokes said.

The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government’s record investment in schools was in stark contrast to Labor’s.

“The last time Labor was in power, they shut down 90 schools, resulting in a loss of more than 500 classrooms and 2000 student places.”

In addition to the record-breaking school building program, the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government has committed an unprecedented investment to eliminate the school maintenance backlog so that every public school in the State provides the world-class facilities that our students and teachers deserve.  As a result, every government school across the Sutherland Shire will have its maintenance backlog wiped out.
