A public campaign has been launched to advance the long awaited F6 extension in southern Sydney by myself and my colleagues Mark Coure MP (Member for Oatley),John Flowers MP (Member for Rockdale), Melanie Gibbons MP (Member for Menai), Shelley Hancock MP (Member for South Coast), Mark Speakman SC MP (Member for Cronulla) and Gareth Ward MP (Member for Kiama).
We are calling on the NSW government to allocate sufficient funds in the 2014-15 budget to bring planning of the F6 extension forward to the “shovel ready” stage within two years. This level of planning is required for the F6 extension to be built.
The NSW Government has been clearing the $30 billion infrastructure backlog left by Labor, with action on major infrastructure like the North West Rail Link, the South West Rail Link, WestConnex, and (on the South Coast) the Princes Highway. Only last weekend NorthConnex was announced. This means the F6 has moved up the queue and we must have action on that front.
The previous Labor Government cancelled the F6 project altogether. The current NSW Government infrastructure strategy incorporates an F6 extension. We need to complete the pre-construction planning, so when construction money becomes available we’re ready to go.
We’re organising a petition to gather community support. We want to take a petition to State Parliament and present it to the Roads Minister Duncan Gay. We’ll be out collecting signatures for the petition at local events. Members of the public can also sign it at our electorate offices.
