The 2018 NSW Seniors Festival is just around the corner and I encourage all seniors in Heathcote to mark their calendars and take part in the celebrations occurring. This year is extra special as the Festival celebrates it Diamond Jubilee Anniversary after running for 60 years in NSW.

Local events and special deals will be on offer to Heathcote seniors during the festival, which runs from 4 April – 15 April. The 3 Bridges Community will be hosting “Her Stories Matter” on Tuesday 17 April 10.30am – 12pm at Sutherland Pensioners Centre.

The Festival is the largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. More than 500,000 people are expected to take part in hundreds of free or discounted events on offer across NSW. The celebrations will be in line with the Festival’s theme Let’s Do More Together.

The NSW Government’s vision under the NSW Ageing Strategy 2016-2020 is for everyone to experience the benefits of living longer and enjoy opportunities to participate in, contribute to and be included in our communities.

The Festival is an opportunity to thank older residents for their contributions to their families, friends and workplaces. I am sure you will agree Heathcote seniors enrich our community as treasured grandparents, volunteers, business owners and workers.

In addition to local events, some lucky seniors will be travelling to the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour to experience the star-studded Premier’s Gala Concerts and Seniors Festival Expo.

This is an occasion to have fun with friends, or build new friendships in Heathcote during the Festival so please make the most of the celebrations.

Seniors can fill their calendars with the events happening in Heathcote and across NSW during the festival by searching via postcode, suburb or region atwww.seniorsfestival.nsw.gov.au or by contacting their local council.
