We are half way through the National Law Week which is an opportunity for everyone to learn more about how the law impacts on their life.
The law has an impact on us every day and this week people will have even more opportunities to learn more about it and how it can help them.
The aim of Law Week is to help people understand how they can get access to legal services and advice in NSW, and there are a range of events taking place across the state.
This year, Legal Aid NSW is partnering with the State Library of NSW and the Department of Justice Courts to deliver short information sessions about family life the law, and a free 10 minute legal check up interview at local libraries.
There are also events for school students including a mock trial and a mock mediation competition.
Lawyers and law students will get the chance to showcase their humour and advocacy skills at the NSW Young Lawyers’ Golden Gavel public speaking competition at the Westin Ballroom, Sydney on Friday, 20 May.
There are events also running throughout the year to give people across NSW access to legal information and services, tours of local courthouses and programs and activities run by local law societies.
