I support all local schools today taking part in the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. This is a great opportunity for schools to share their existing work in this space with their school community.
Many schools in the Heathcote electorate already have very successful practices in place, but having a dedicated day each year brings a fresh focus to the issue.
The sixth National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence is organised by “Bullying. No Way!” – an initiative of the Federal Government, Catholic and Independent education authorities.
In NSW, at least 385 government schools have registered to take part so far, with more than 155,000 students. At least 88 Catholic schools with nearly 42,000 students and 60 independent schools with more than 31,000 students have also signed up.
It is expected that more than 900,000 students from more than 2,000 schools across Australia will take part today.
