Four Heathcote projects will benefit from a share in $76,000 thanks to the NSW Government’s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund, which focussed on ensuring communities and visitors could continue to enjoy local land and facilities.

The funding will improve the usability of the reserves for the local community and undertake an upgrade the Sutherland Police Citizens Youth Club.

The bulk of the funding, nearly $48,000 will go towards important weeding operations at Prince Edward Park and Ferntree Road Reserve.

Essential weeding is necessary to protect, enhance and support habitat within the Woronora River catchment area. In particular this is important for the habitat of Powerful Owls and koalas.

There is also $20,000 for pest control at numerous Crown land reserves in Sutherland Shire.

Meanwhile, $8,000 will go toward supplying, renovating and installing a new gym floor at the Sutherland PCYC.”

To date, the NSW Government has invested $115 million across seven years into Crown land projects.

CRIF supports Crown reserve managers by providing funding for repairs and maintenance projects, pest and weed control, new recreational infrastructure and environmental initiatives.
