Local communities can now apply for the $100 million up for grabs to go towards new and upgraded sports facilities throughout Greater Sydney.
The upgrades will play an important role in boosting our local economies and drawing communities together through fostering sports participation.
I encourage clubs and councils to consider applying for projects that support the hosting of valued sporting events in our backyard, and encourage female participation.
The NSW Government is passionate about supporting our local communities, and the fund will support up to 120 projects, including new and upgraded ovals, synthetic surfaces, change rooms, kiosks, and lighting.
The announcement forms part of the NSW Government’s $290 million Open Spaces and Greener Sydney initiative which focuses on providing the community with accessible greenspaces.
We know it is vital people have access to open and green spaces in their communities to improve liveability and provide families with the best possible quality of life.
The fund provides grants between $500,000 and $5 million for projects, and a 25 per cent co-contribution is required for projects costing more than $1 million.
